The Cathedral of the Peak
Tideswell is a traditional village in the middle of the Peak District National Park. The Fourteenth Century Church known as the Cathedral of the Peak is worth a visit.
Tideswell has a thriving range of local shops including:-
Tindall's bakery, N T Gibbs butchers (open Monday to Friday, and Saturday mornings), Vanilla Kitchen Cafe, Fruit & Veg shop, Tideswell Stores / Post office, Natwest with ATM, Co-op, Cathedral Gallery, Peak District dairy, Chemist and a Florist.
Learn to Cook! The newly opened Tideswell School of Food is based in the heart of the village and offers a range of cookery courses that cater for all interests and abilities. For example, Italian Cookery, Bread Making, Brewing and many others. The School uses local ingredients and expertise wherever possible, and supports many of our quality Peak District producers. Local "Tideswell Made" products are available in local shops in the village and surrounding area.
We also have three public houses - The Horse and Jockey (great food after a days walking!), The Star and The George Hotel, situated in Tideswell. Within a 15 minute walk of Tideswell you will find other places to have a drink and something to eat like the Red Lion at Litton (15 mins walk - lovely!) and The Anchor Inn.
Each year we celebrate Wakes Week (end of June). This features traditional Well Dressings and various events and processions throughought the week.
Tideswell is an ideal base for walkers, bikers and all those who enjoy the outdoors. We are situated in the heart of the Peak District and are keen outdoors people ourselves. Please do let us ask anything to help make your stay that little bit more complete.
